Joss Whedon x Gallery 1988

I stood in line opening night for the Joss Whedon tribute show at Gallery 1988. It was so fun looking for obscure references to Whedon's shows/movies. I wish there were more Dollhouse pieces though.

Bunnywith...

I must back track because I've been terrible about updating my blog. Alex Pardee's Bunnywith show was October 19, 2013 at Gallery 1988: East.

Charlie and I stood in a tolerable line, and were treated to hundreds of affordable pieces. Pardee was there in his Bunnywith head piece passing out 5x7" prints by the door, and signing prints, books, and toys. He seemed like such a happy, sweet guy despite the demented scenarios that spew from his brain into his art. It's a fabulous amalgam.

 There were SO many bunnywiths. Bunnywith Helium was my favorite.

art of sucker punch...

You know me and art books. I debated for about an hour whether I should get the special edition or the regular edition of Sucker Punch: The Art of the Film. Signed copies that include prints and nice packaging are so tempting. So I decided to save the extra $50 for something else and ordered the regular edition, which I'm still ecstatic about. It's filled with concept drawings and illustrations by Alex Pardee and others of the characters, the set design, the costumes. I can't wait for the movie; it just looks like a great escape.

Vernissage & Vertigo...

So, I have been quite distracted and I know I've been a neglectful blogger. Happy 2011 none the less and here's what is in store in the Culver City Arts District the first weekend of the year:
Vernissage 2011 at LeBasse Projects, and Alex Pardee's Vertigo at Corey Helford Gallery. Both open January 8th.

Vernissage 2011 is a preview group show for LeBasse Projects. The gallery blog says "Vernissage will present work from artists including Yoskay Yamamoto, Andrew Hem, Mike Stilkey, Shark Toof, Herakut, Edwin Ushiro, Melissa Haslam, Thomas Doyle, Nate Frizzell, Ken Garduno, Matt Haber, Eric Fortune and more."

Vertigo has actually been in my calendar for a few months already, but with Alex's popularity I don't even know if I could make it into the gallery opening night.

There are new shirts at Zerofriends! Alex Pardee & Camilla D'errico, Craola... I'm loving the colors in Camilla & Alex's shirt called Disassembled Tears.

Alex Pardee has just announced a solo show at Gallery 1988 on Oct 2 on the Suru site!hmm, party on a tuesday? i think i might have to.

i was going to post this the first time i saw it featured by Gallery 1988's blog, but i don't have speakers on the other computer and i didn't want to post it until i got to hear it first. then juxtapoz featured the video, and hi-fructose just did too. now that i finally watched the progress of the mural and heard the whole clip on my home computer i'm sharing...

alex pardee...amazing illustrator, sometimes kind of disturbing, but always amazing, and apparently also a comedian. he iis participating in a show with hi-fructose soon; i may need to go see that...
