Lyric cins: Lita Ford series

Rock legend, Lita Ford, lead guitarist for The Runaways, came to work today for a Meet and Greet. I made some lyric sheets in anticipation.
This might be a new design exercise for me. Mixing music and design is just logical.

at shuffle & the never ending story...

saturday night, we went to the show opening for Shuffle at Hibbleton Gallery in Fullerton. the tagline for the show is "interpreting music into visual arts, a collaborative playlist. the gallery was friggin packed. our friend, Aaron Little, had a set of awesome paintings at one corner of the gallery...
and all the way at the other side of the gallery, Christopher Umana had a piece up. i went to college with his brother, Ichae Ackso (who participated in postal sketches), so i got to say hi and Chris did this sketch for me.
i had monday off for president's day, so my cousinish and i went to Royal/T to check out the Never Ending Story exhibit and have some brunch. the food looked so appetizing and delicious that i didn't even pause to take a picture before digging in.we had the gallery all to ourselves and the Porta Party in the corner kept us amused for a while.
this was a big fascinating piece by seonna hong.this bunny was our favorite piece, but i didn't pay attention to who the artist was. i must have been really absentminded monday...

the first two photos are by our friend David Law. he's a doctor.

the worlds on fire...

last night my best friend, connie, and i attempted to go to the second opening of The Worlds on Fire: Grammy Nominated Art Exhibit. it's a series of portraits done by various amazing artist of grammy nominated musicians. apparently we crashed a private party instead of attending an opening, which was actually only on monday. the blog for Juxtapoz magazine stated, "If you missed the Worlds on Fire opening reception on Monday, you still have a chance to attend a second public opening tonight, Friday, February 6th 2009, starting at 7pm." when we arrived at the door of the Pacific Electric Lofts, the door lady said the gallery closed at 7pm and a private party started at 9pm. imagine our confusion. we got there around 8pm and the glass windows showed us a practically empty gallery. with enough desperation, connie talked our ways into the show. it was fantastic. thank you to the door lady and whoever she asked to let us in.
my favorite piece: lori earley's portrait of madonna
detail of one of connie's favorite pieces; it's a mosaic of vinyl pieces to create jay-z's portrait by mr. brainwash.

images from our night at the exhibit.
images from the actual opening

List of Artists (and Musicians portraits created):

afterward we went around the corner to blu LA cafe for banana cream pie...
