Postal Sketches Round 9...

Life has pushed me along and I lost my blogging train of thought for a while. I was still attending art shows and looking for inspiration everywhere. Postal Sketches was still being sent up and down western edge of the United States, and it has finally come home to me after a whole year of traveling! Thanks for keeping up with me if you're still around.

Postal Sketches: One Year...

One year ago today, I bought the sketchbook for my Postal Sketches project at Walser's and it was first mailed out two days later. We have finished 3 rounds of mailing and invited 5 guest artists to help us mix it up. I used mapquest to add up all the miles, including trips to Chicago and San Francisco, and the sketchbook as traveled about 4887 miles so far!
This was my last spread. There are lots really great images so far, and I'm looking forward to another inspiring year.
Thanks for the support! Links to visit Postal Sketches' progress are in sidebar.

at shuffle & the never ending story...

saturday night, we went to the show opening for Shuffle at Hibbleton Gallery in Fullerton. the tagline for the show is "interpreting music into visual arts, a collaborative playlist. the gallery was friggin packed. our friend, Aaron Little, had a set of awesome paintings at one corner of the gallery...
and all the way at the other side of the gallery, Christopher Umana had a piece up. i went to college with his brother, Ichae Ackso (who participated in postal sketches), so i got to say hi and Chris did this sketch for me.
i had monday off for president's day, so my cousinish and i went to Royal/T to check out the Never Ending Story exhibit and have some brunch. the food looked so appetizing and delicious that i didn't even pause to take a picture before digging in.we had the gallery all to ourselves and the Porta Party in the corner kept us amused for a while.
this was a big fascinating piece by seonna hong.this bunny was our favorite piece, but i didn't pay attention to who the artist was. i must have been really absentminded monday...

the first two photos are by our friend David Law. he's a doctor.

postal sketches {round 3}...

i'm really excited about the progress of my Postal Sketches project, so i just wanted to share an update. we just posted spread sixteen by Rachel Peterson...
her page reminds me of Alice in Wonderland and that makes me happy.
previously, Chris Kawagiwa did a spread using coffee and ink. coffee!
we've also been documenting the evolution of the sketchbook's physical appearance...

don't miss any of the up coming spreads!
