50 Shades of Black...

What's stopping me from going to an art show in the middle of the week? I'm so tempted.

Every Oscar Dress...

Despite the Academy Awards shutting down all the streets around my block this weekend, I love the event, and always have. This info graphic reminds me of when I used to watch the show with a sketchbook in front of me frantically scribbling gestures of the dresses that appeared on screen for all of 2 minutes.

Sochi Olympic logo...

I'm not in love with the new Olympic logo, but I do appreciate this article that debates its merits.

Branded arts walls...

These walls are covered up and gone now, but a few weeks ago a new friend took me to the buildings to explore.
I was ecstatic to see Yoskay Yamamoto's mural...
 and Ekundayo's...
 and Hush's
 and Shark Toof's
and two Dabs and Myla's!

Hot Pot Girls...

In late October, I went to GR2 for the book signing by Katsuya Terada and to see his Hot Pot Girls show.
The amount of detail is insane.
Pages from sketchbooks were framed for the exhibit.

His book is FULL of amazing work over a ridiculously awesome career.

Dragon Boys...

Within the last 5 months, I acquired two of Martin Hsu's Dragon Boys. From Comic Con, a friend bought me the blue and pink Bait edition for my birthday. A few months later, I heard the original colorway had been restocked, so I ordered it as soon as I possibly could. Definitely big smiles all around.

Bunnywith...

I must back track because I've been terrible about updating my blog. Alex Pardee's Bunnywith show was October 19, 2013 at Gallery 1988: East.
Charlie and I stood in a tolerable line, and were treated to hundreds of affordable pieces. Pardee was there in his Bunnywith head piece passing out 5x7" prints by the door, and signing prints, books, and toys. He seemed like such a happy, sweet guy despite the demented scenarios that spew from his brain into his art. It's a fabulous amalgam.

There were SO many bunnywiths. Bunnywith Helium was my favorite.

The OBEY Holiday Ornament...

I am a social media marketing target bullseye. I read the words "Obey," "collectible," and "available." Then I clicked over to the store and ordered the ornament  immediately, without blinking.

Now, that I am out of the Obey Giant trance, I realize that I have no Christmas tree in my apartment to hang this little piece of quality dissent.

I shall treasure it anyway.
Happy holiday shopping season!

Bellicose Bunny...

My one and only black friday present for myself.
This little guy makes me smile like there's a joke no one else is in on.
Everytime I walked into the Toy Art Gallery, I contemplated buying the original colorway of Nathan Hamill's Bellicose Bunny, but I'm definitely more infatuated with the Vortex Edition. I'm also pretty sure I ordered that last one available on Hamill's site, and I'm ecstatic that I pulled the trigger.

Offering...

On a whim, with no regard for my budget, I ordered Audrey Kawasaki's Offering print from Thinkspace the minute I saw this print was available. Currently, I still need to get this dreamy piece framed.

Designer Con 2013

It's been at least 2 years since I made it to Designer Con. I barely made it this year. If it wasn't for the new expansion to Sunday, I wouldn't have made it again, therefore I took advantage of the second day.

The sketch above is by Jerome Lu of Hyperactive Monkey fame. This post is in honor of him because he said I need to update my blog.
I bought my sister a ticket and then proceeded to make her take pictures with me all over the convention.
And this is Charlie, demonstrating how to be slick around famous artists. Thank you Nathan Hamill for the sketch! I just purchased his Bellicose Bunny: Vortex edition during Black Friday.

R2D2 USB Car Charger...

There are a lots of art shows, vinyl toys, and print purchases I should be posting about, but seriously, you can't deny that this is fabulous.
I need a personal R2D2 charging my phone and ipod in the car. I need it. Pretty sure you do too.

I'm Scared | A Stop Motion Movie

I am so excited about this stop-motion short film by Craola being made; the project just hit its goal on Kickstarter! There's still time to back the project and get some collateral goodies.
